 Release Date:

Release overview

x360Recover 10.17.0 is a maintenance release, delivering major refactoring of application internals. This is needed to enable compatibility with the Ubuntu Bionic upgrade (occurring later this year.) Release 10.17.0 also eliminates forced updating during new appliance provisioning and resolves additional partner-facing bugs.

Summary of new features

  • Removed the requirement to upgrade immediately before provisioning a new appliance
  • Implemented rewrite of some Upstart-based services. This will allow elimination of Upstart.
     (Required for Bionic Upgrade)

Summary of bug fixes

  • Fixed sorting of BootVM screenshots on the Management Portal
  • Fixed VM of Dell OEM system failing to boot if bootloader file is empty
  • Fixed issue with invalid FTP username if Client and Partner names are the same
  • Fixed issue with Management Reporting configuration for Direct-to-Cloud endpoints
  • Removed ‘Replibit’ branding from Protected System Details page
  • Display of Cloud AutoVerify checks is hidden if they are disabled

Forced update during provisioning is eliminated

After installing x360Recover, you are no longer forced to update immediately to the latest version before completing the provisioning.

Performing an update may take 30 minutes or more, and this requirement was a pain point for technicians on-site as they deployed new appliances.  Updating to the current version is now deferred until after provisioning is completed - and the update runs in the background, to reduce delays while deploying a new unit.

Auto Update Best Practices

We recommend that you Enable Auto Update on the Settings -> Update Manager page on each of your x360Recover devices.

We also recommend that you enable Auto-Enable Remote Assist When Upgrading so that remote access will be available to our development team should something go wrong with your upgrade.

  • This will ensure that your x360Recover devices are updated with the latest software enhancements in a timely fashion, and that the Support team will have a short window of time to access and repair any troublesome devices without requiring user intervention.
