Background
This release is another step towards modernization of the Web Portal look and feel which the x360Sync team is actively working on.
This release contains updates of the Accounts section of the Administrator's interface.
Please see these previous steps taken for more information:
- New look and feel for Standard Users in Web Portal version 2.9.0
- New design of the Organization Dashboard and Reports in Web Portal version 2.10.0
New Features
Administrator Accounts
Our research identified the Accounts section of the Administrator interface as the most used page after the Organization Dashboard. Based on those findings, we've decided to address that section at this time.
Benefits of the new Administrator Accounts design include:
More real estate
The new design occupies the full width of a web browser window. This provides more space to allocate account information and interactive elements including tabs and buttons. This design also allows larger font sizes, which is especially useful with the small to medium-sized screens of laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
All accounts under one section
On the screenshot of the new design below, Standard and Administrator accounts, Groups, and Guests are positioned under one section: Accounts.
The horizontal menu on the left sidebar frees up vertical space and allows the use of tabs to switch between different types of accounts.
More prominent search field
By far, the most popular use of the Accounts section is to search for an existing account when an administrator wants to verify or update details or access settings.
The new design offers a larger and more prominent search field, making search functionality more convenient.
Additionally, the search field remains consistently in the same position, with the same shape and size, to help administrators find it quickly and easily.
New column for emails
Administrator Account emails are now presented as a separate column. This enables an administrator to scan quickly through the list of accounts, to verify, for example, if all accounts they intended to create are present.
The separate column for email will also enable us to provide sorting by email, a feature we are planning to include in a future release.
Rearranged buttons
We rearranged the buttons in the Edit column and renamed the column to Manage, since administrators can find much more than only editing options in this column.
The delete button was moved to the far right position to reduce the chance of accidental clicks.
Future Improvements
To enable early feedback from our partners regarding the updated look and feel, we limited the scope of this release to include updates for the Accounts page of the Administrator interface and its elements. The rest of the pages are shown in Classic look. Stay tuned for the new updates!
The diagram below highlights the updated pages with the"New" badge.
Please note: With the success of the new Web Portal look and feel, we plan to retire the classic look on June 1 2020.
