You're keeping an existing local backup solution in place until new cloud data has been retained for a specified amount of time |
Use parallel deployment with Direct-To-Cloud. | Once your client’s cloud retention requirement has been satisfied, you can repurpose the existing hardware and convert the D2C endpoints to appliance mode. |
Direct-to-Cloud deployment: Step1. Prepare your environment Step 2. Access your x360Portal account Step 3. Access your vault Step 4. Work with a backup agent Step 5. Manage backups |

What should you consider BEFORE you begin a D2C endpoint-to-appliance conversion? |
Storage options: Dont fill up the storage pool beyond 80%. Assume average monthly data growth of 2% and 5% portion of non-compressible data. |
Take total disk in-use/used storage across all severs to be protected and multiply by two. Then divide by .80 to calculate the amount of storage needed to maintain about 3 months of backups on the appliance Increase the multiplier if you expect more rapid data growth or a larger percentage of non-compressible data. Set a separate retention policy on the appliance vs. what is kept in the cloud. For example, 3-4 months of local retention: 775GB * 2 = 1550 GB / .80 = 1938 GB (2TB) of usable |
|
What do you need to know about virtualization options? | Memory used by VMs running on the appliance cannot be shared, so make sure you have enough RAM (and cores) to distribute across all the systems you would expect to virtualize simultaneously, plus leaving some resources for the appliance to continue performing backups. |

What are your virtual appliance choices? |
Deploy x360Recover as a virtual machine (VM) Virtualize an x360Recover appliance as a guest VM |
||
What are the requirements to bring-your-own-device (BYOD)? | Since you'll download and install the software onto your hardware, pay special attention to hardware requirements | Bring your own device | |
How should you use iSCSI storage? |
For files or folders with complex permissions |
