Problem: When attempting to power on the vApp you see a “Failed to power on VM” error message even though your processor has VTx with EPT enabled. The error message looks similar to the following:

VM error message

Cause: The vApp does not have sufficient vCPUs allocated to the vApp.

Solution: Below is a brief summary of the vCPU requirements for the vApp:

  • Minimum – 4 vCPU cores
  • Recommended – 4-8 vCPU cores
  • High Performance 8+ vCPU cores
